You. Your Health. Your Confidence

Long Term Dentistry 3

Contrary to popular belief, regular “permanent” fillings (silver and tooth-colored fillings) will not last a lifetime. The average life span is 8 to 12 years, after which they start to deteriorate and need to be replaced with a bigger filling. A better alternative which will help in meeting the goal of lifetime dental health is the use of more permanent materials like cast gold or baked porcelain. At our office, we routinely recommend this more permanent type of restoration for all our patients. This will help preserve the tooth structure by reducing the frequency of, or eliminating the need for these types of restorations.
