Invisalign is an excellent alternative to regular braces. It uses a series of customized aligners that straighten teeth gradually. The aligners are crafted out of a smooth, comfortable, and nearly invisible plastic that’s worn over the teeth. Over time, the aligners will gently shift the teeth into the position planned out by Dr. Singh. Unlike braces, there are no metal brackets or wires to deal with. Simply place a new set of aligners over your teeth every two weeks until treatment is concluded. The best part is, most people won’t even realize your teeth are being straightened.
Initially, you’ll have a consultation with Dr. Singh to determine if you’re a good candidate. Your case will be discussed in detail, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions. Should both you and the doctor decide Invisalign is the right choice, next you’ll schedule the initial Invisalign records appointment. Here, the staff will take digital x-rays, pictures, and impressions, which will all be sent to Invisalign. They will create a 3D image, which Dr. Singh will use to craft your treatment plan and determine the precise movements your teeth need to make. You’ll be able to view a virtual model of how your teeth will move during treatment.
Once the plan has been completed, you’ll receive your custom-made aligners. Made of smooth plastic, they minimize the irritation to the cheeks and gums that regular metal braces frequently cause. You’ll wear the aligners during the day, and you’ll take them out to eat, brush, and floss. On average, you’ll switch to a new set of aligners every two to three weeks. Also, you’ll only need to visit Dr. Singh every six weeks for a brief check-up.
While every dental situation is unique, treatment generally takes about one year for adults and one to two years for teens . For teens, treatment time is similar to metal braces, but rapid improvements can be seen quickly. We recommend wearing the aligners for 20-22 hours per day during treatment.
